For many of us our gardens are an extension of our homes especially in the summer months when the days are long, and we can enjoy barbecues outdoors with family and friends. With this is mind how can be make our outdoor spaces as comfortable and welcoming as our interiors?
Comfortable garden furniture is really important if you want your guests to be able to relax and enjoy their time in your garden. There are so many different designs out there from compact examples that all fit neatly into a cube when not in use to large armchairs and sofas and so it will very much depend on the space you have in your garden. Most garden furniture sets include a table of some sort but if you do intend sitting at a table to eat a coffee table type is probably more practical.
One area to give consideration to when thinking about your indoor/outdoor space is the entrance to the garden from the house. The spaces should flow into each other if possible and one way to achieve this is by installing bifold doors which can be folded back on warm days and evenings. A canopy or awning can be erected which can link the two areas and also provide shade in hot weather.
